Every Teacher, Every Student, Every Family, Every Day

Greetings Bobcat Families:

Hello! At Belvidere we are taking on many challenges and programs to assist your students to reach their potential and goals.  We are a BIST school, believing in helping students learn to manage overwhelming social and emotional feelings to learn to be problem solvers and take care of themselves.  We also are preparing your students with many experiences in STEM and hands on science learning events to introduce to concepts that they will continue to develop in the future.  Our teachers strive to deliver instruction that is based on best practices with fullest engagement opportunities.  We are proud of our school system and we hope you are too.

This year we have purchased MacBook Airs  for our 4th graders! This follows our 5th graders receiving them last year.  Our hope is to put the devices in 3rd graders hands next year.  We will continue to use the devices as learning tools.  The younger grades have iPads.  Seesaw, Lexia, Google Classrooms, and a multitude of other high engaging and learning based programs are utilized by our students.

During the 3rd quarter, we will continue to monitor progress, especially in reading skills and math concepts.  We will celebrate individual’s learning gains and keep pushing kiddos to meet goals.  Thank you for your ongoing partnership! #wearebeldivere!

I want to be sure and recognize our 5th grade Science Fair winners: Suri Dorn, Samiya McKinzey, Essance Jordan, Ellie McArthur, Cecil Cotton, Antonio Johnson, Guadalupe Toledo Martinez, Jensen Blevins, Tamia Jefferson Page, Tatiyanna Allen, Michael Craddock, Alex Wortham-Walls.  These students will move on to the Greater Kansas City Fair.

For more information visit:

I need to ask you for your ongoing support of our arrival and dismissal procedures.  First and foremost, PLEASE ensure all students are using the crosswalk.  Do not block the crosswalk and please do not park in the drop off area.  Let’s remember to be courteous to each other and remember we look after all of our kiddos!

To encourage daily attendance, we are holding a raffle of a Kindle Fire 8HD.  When students are at school and on time they will get entered into the raffle.  Obviously, the more days they meet that expectation, the more chances they have to win.  But most importantly, when students miss school, they are missing out of their own educational growth.  Please make sure your student is at school every day!

As always, if I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With Bobcat Pride,

*Favorite Movie- Pitch Perfect

*Funny moment in teaching- During recess, my whole class decided to play a game of basketball. I was on one of the teams. When I made a basket my students were so confused/shocked because they didn't think teachers were able to play basketball, let alone make a basket.

*Funny moment in teaching- One year when I was teaching 1st grade, the students were talking about Christmas things and one student said that there was no Santa Claus. Time stood still for 5 seconds then everyone else starting yelling at him that there is a Santa Claus. One little girl told him "Where do you think we get all our presents from? Our parents can't afford that". He was quiet the rest of the day!
