Principal's Letter

Hello Bobcat Families!

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year!  As always, every year comes with its own unique challenges and roadblocks, but we are here to support you and your student!  Our number one mission is developing our students into capable people that are able to problem solve, collaborate, and contribute.  This year will be no different.

We WILL have school 5 days a week.  We WILL have our student present every day.  We WILL have safety measure still in place to ensure our students and staff can stay in school and focus on learning.  Belvidere will follow all district protocols when it comes to masking, distancing, cleaning, etc.

I know many families want to know what they can do to best support their students at school.  I have three suggestions for you that will make a huge difference in your students lives.

First, make education a priority not just by getting them to school, but by talking about how important it is, by asking students not just how their day was, but what they learned, and by partnering with the teachers to understand your students individual needs.

Second, READ - every. single. day.  Read to your student books that are beyond their level (K, 1, 2, 3, 4 AND 5), listen to your student read to you (you will be surprised how many words they think they know but pronounce wrong in their head), and allow your student time to quietly read on their own.  Each and every day.

Last, keep up on all the communication from school.  I know, it can be daunting.  I have four children of my own at elementary, middle and high school!  But I want them to know what is going on in their world matters.  I might skip over other emails, but ones from teachers and schools I always attend to each day.  Set aside even 10 minutes each day just for school email - it will do wonders for supporting your student!

I am so excited for this year and I can't wait to partner with each of you to help your student succeed.  Never hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.  We are always here for you and your student!

Sincerely,

Ms. Dane
