About Me

Welcome everyone to Belvidere Elementary. My name is Stevie Williams and I am a 4th grade teacher here at Belvidere. Here at Belvidere, I teach reading and writing. Before coming to Belvidere for the 2017-2018 school year, I taught a year of Montessori at Border Star Montessori before moving on over to Benjamin Banneker Elementary where I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades for the Kansas City Missouri School District. I have been teaching now for nine years.

My educational background consist of an under graduate degree in Finance and Education, supported by Masters in Education and ESL (English as a Second Language). Currently, I am soliciting schools to start on my Ed. Specialist Degree.

Before I started teaching, i worked for Sprint for 14 years in their Finance, Billing, and CallCenter Support Reporting department. Learning hasn't always been easy for me because of my early childhood literacy. I really struggled a lot with reading and writing well up through my fourth grade year, but through determination and with the help of a wonderful teacher that was willing to work with me after school and even on the weekends, I was able to bridge that wide gap that set me apart from all of the other students in my classroom, and it was all because that light bulb went off and I finally began to understand the English concepts of reading and writing. At that time, I made myself a promise that if the opportunity ever presented itself I would go into teaching and dedicate my life and career to helping students succeed from all levels. It's the joy of seeing that light go off in a students head that keeps me coming back each year, not to mention the awesome students we have here at Belvidere Elementary.
