I would like to introduce myself, I am Dr. Jennifer Harris. I am originally from the Washington D.C. area and I am now a fully committed Mid-Westerner! I have four amazing daughters- two of them are college graduates and have obtained substantial employment in their respective professions. I have a daughter at Mizzou as a nursing major and my youngest daughter is at the University of South Carolina.
My educational career began as a preschool teacher and Assistant Director of a childcare center. In the past 25 years, I have enjoyed working with students of primary grades. I have had the privilege of instructing students in grades K-5 as a classroom teacher and interventionist. My opportunities as an educator also involved working closely with teachers as a Professional Learning Community and Assessment Coordinator and a School Certification team member. As an administrator, my roles have included serving as an assistant principal, elementary principal, and prek-12th campus administrator.
I am also a lifelong, career student. I have obtained a B.A., a M.Ed., an Ed.S., and the terminal degree, a Doctorate of Education from Baker University. I believe strongly in continuous learning, innovative thinking, and professional networking. I have attended professional learning from Greenbush and participated in the Kansas Association of School Boards, Superintendent Academy.
My hobbies include spending time with my family and friends, traveling to any beach, watching mostly any sport (except Golf), skiing and jogging, and reading mostly, educational books and historical fiction. I am a huge Sporting KC fan and forever Royal.
